When the pandemic and state of emergency was declared in March 2020, PCSA paused all soccer programs for its 200+ families and 350+ players. This has placed a financial strain on PCSA players, families, and operations. There will be additional costs associated with starting up again due to enhanced health and safety regulations. Now PCSA has been approved for a $15,000 grant from Jumpstart’s Sport Relief Fund which is sponsored by Canadian Tire Corporation. The scheme is designed to help sport and recreation organizations build back sport and play in Canada.
“With Jumpstart’s support, PCSA will be able to purchase the personal protective equipment needed for a safe re-start anticipated this summer”, said PCSA President Dan Moore. “It will also be used to purchase a practice t-shirt for every player, further easing the registration burden on players and families. Operationally, Jumpstart will support staff honorariums over the summer, staff who have been volunteering since June 2020”.
