The future is bright for girl’s and women’s soccer in Peterborough if the performance of PCSA’s three women’s teams is any indication.
The PCSA U21 Women White (a.k.a. U18 Girls) clinched first place in the OWSL Regional (East) U21 Division following a 7 – 0 win over the visiting North York Explosion at Eastgate Park on August 1. The win assures them of promotion to the Provincial U21 Central Division next year. Their season record was 10 wins, 1 tie and only 1 loss.
The PCSA U21 Women Blue team also finished strongly to end the season in third place with a record of 5-3-4 (W-T-L).
City players are also recognized for outstanding individual achievements. Violet Hipkin won the Golden Boot award with a league leading 19 goals. Emma Twohey was the runner up with 17 goals. Goalkeeper Aleighsha Comeau won the Golden Glove award with a total of 5 shutouts. Jess Moran of the PCSA U21 Blue team was the runner up with 4 shutouts.
The Senior Women’s team, in their first season back in the OWSL after a three year hiatus, finished fourth in the Central Region (East) Division with a record of 7-3-4 (W-T-L). They had the best defensive record in the league with just 16 goals against.
