The PCSA U9-U12 Development (pre-competitive) Program is designed for young players at the “Learning to Train” stage of Long Term Player Development. The program teaches a broad range of soccer techniques, soccer coordination and general movement skills through a variety of fun activities and small-sided games in a safe, stimulating and engaging environment. We recognize that agility, balance and coordination (the ABC’s) are essential foundation skills that all good soccer players (and all athletes) have in common.
The program takes a holistic approach to developing our youth. Each game and activity will focus on 4 main areas of the child’s development; these include physical, technical, social/emotional and physiological. It is the goal of the PCSA Development Program to accept every player with the desire and the commitment, subject to maintaining an appropriate coach to player ratio.
The program begins with Fall Training in October and runs until the end of August or early September of the following year. Summer league action includes playing teams from the Peterborough, Northumberland and Durham regions on a home and away basis as well as attending up to three weekend festivals, one of which is the Peterborough City Festival in June.
Tryouts for pre-competitive age divisions (U9 to U12) are held in September for the following year’s teams. There is no cost to attend tryouts and new players are welcome. Please refer to the Tryouts page for more information.
Please note that a grassroots player (U12 and under) may only be registered at any one time with one (outdoor) Club.
